A unique feature of Woodcreek is the passage between the two halves of the neighborhood - a walking bridge erected 20-some years ago when the subdivision was built. This bridge area got an upgrade in 2001 thanks to the Neighborhood Enhancement Matching Grants Program provided by the City of Carrollton. We repainted the metal structure, replaced the wood decking and added lighting to the bridge to make it safer at night. In addition to improving the bridge itself, we spread wildflower seeds along the banks of the creek near the bridge area. Neighbors pledged over 300 hours in donated time and made monetary donations to help with the bridge project.
The voluntary Woodcreek Homeowners Association has 55 percent membership out of nearly 342 homes. Membership benefits include a neighborhood directory updated yearly, a newsletter, and one or more social events each year. Officers are elected each fall and serve a one-year term. General meetings feature topics of concern to Woodcreek neighbors, and usually include a guest speaker. In recent years, topics included tollway construction, neighborhood cut-through traffic problems, the housing market, and tips for selling and buying a home.
